View the Future is honored to welcome Mat dos Santos of Our Children’s Trust, the world’s only nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated exclusively to securing the legal rights of youth to a healthy atmosphere and safe climate based on the best available science.
Mat will share the story behind groundbreaking youth-led climate litigation, including Juliana v. United States, a landmark constitutional lawsuit brought by 21 young Americans challenging government actions that contribute to climate change and asserting the rights of future generations to life, liberty, property, and the protection of essential public trust resources.
Drawing from their extensive civil rights background—including leadership as former Legal Director of the ACLU of Oregon—Mat will explore the powerful intersection of climate science, constitutional law, and social justice, and how legal advocacy can shape a more sustainable future for our lands, waters, and communities.
